Riders of the Apocalypse

The endless galloping forewarns your party of the trial to come. Heralds of Misery, the Riders gallop in the wake of the follies of mankind. Each is an embodiment of the tribulations that face ruined cultures, wielding powers far beyond your ken. 

You cannot stop the apocalypse. But you can try to stop the riders. Should you be victorious, their artifacts will aid you in your survival. Who knows, maybe you'll even get to watch the world end.

If you don't survive, at least you went out fighting a literal avatar of woe.
